My LORD and My GOD

“Thomas said to him, ‘My Lord and my God!’ . . .

These [things] are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.”
From John 20:24–31 (NIV)

GOD has blessed me so much in my life, and I am truly grateful to Him.  Each day He sends blessings noticed and unnoticed by me.

There is one I especially want to thank Him for today.  This is that He is my LORD and my GOD.  I am His saved, born-again child.  When life is over here on planet earth and I leave behind the wonders and earthly blessings, I will go to be with Him—my LORD, my Savior, my Redeemer, and my best Friend.

I have failed Him many times.  He has forgiven me and has never failed me.  He has always proven faithful in all the times, and I could not adequately tell of all His kindness to me. He has protected me, healed me, restored me, and given me eternal life.  How can I ever ade-quately thank a Friend who has done all that and more for me?  I would like to praise Him and give Him all the glory.  Through earth’s short time and heaven’s eternity, I would like to thank Him—my LORD and my GOD.

Dear LORD, thank you that you are my King.

In JESUS’ name, amen

Jehovah Raah

Psalm 23:1 “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want” (KJV).

The original Hebrew text reads “Jehovah-râàh,” which is “The Lord, my Shepherd.” According to the Hebrew and Chaldee Dictionary, Râàh is pronounced “raw-aw,” whose meaning includes “to tend a flock; i.e. pasture [it], to associate with (as a friend); companion, feed, make friendship with, keep sheep, pastor, shepherd.”

I have heard Psalm 23:1 read two other ways. (1) “Because the Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want.” (2)  One little boy quoted Psalm 23:1 this way: “The Lord is my Shepherd, and that’s ALL I want!”

What a goal this should be for our lives: to want only our Lord and Shepherd, our Lord Jesus Christ because He is our   All-Sufficient One (the ONE who provides ALL of our needs)! The only way that Jehovah God can be our Shepherd is by our putting all of our faith in Him (the Lord Jesus Christ who paid the penalty for our sin by sacrificing His life for our lives on that cruel cross 2,000 years ago).  Moment by moment, we are to be trusting Him for the forgiveness of our sins (1 John 1:9), and we should be turning over the reins (control) of our lives to Him so that He can truly be our Shepherd and lead us (Matthew 11:28–30).

Created in His Image
Part 1

by  Sandra Stone Lehmann

In Genesis 1:26, we find God having a conversation with His son Jesus and the Holy Spirit.  He says, and I quote from the New American Standard Bible:  “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness.”  Wow!  In the beginning, man was created in the likeness of God.

All was well, until the Evil One, Satan, beguiled Eve.  How did he do that?  He did it with spoken words.  He posed a question, Eve thought about it, and then she came to her own conclusion!  Eve got into trouble because she did not run her thoughts by God before she made a decision.  Does that sound familiar to anyone?  Sin was introduced to the world, and then man had to be reconciled back to his previous position through the shedding of blood, culminating with Jesus dying on the cross, as a once-and-for-all sacrifice for mankind.   For us, today, when we accept Him as our savior, this is known as the New Birth.

Due to the fact that man was created and fashioned after the likeness of God, human beings are highly intelligent creatures.  The human brain is an amazing organ.  It has been likened, by man, to a giant computer, possessing amazing abilities.  It takes in information, processes it, and then stores it for further use, known as retrieval, or it deletes it.  In doing so, neural pathways are developed.

How information is processed depends on the software being used, and to make proper application, we need to understand the software.  In order to use software, it must be compatible with the computer.  It stands to reason that since God created our brain, He has also designed compatible software so that our brains will function at their optimum level.

One of the attributes of God is that He is omniscient, meaning, “He is all-knowing.”  That translates into “God is very smart!”  He knows that in order for us to function at our optimum, or highest, level, we, as Christians, need to know His inerrant Word, which is the Bible, or the User’s Manual.  When our brain takes in information, it is sent to the processing center.  Now, if our processing center has not been “washed” by the Word, it has a “glitch” in it, allowing it to send information to the memory (hard drive) that should have been deleted.  The retrieval system cannot differentiate between good and bad information—it obeys the command given by the user.

We have not been left defenseless.  In Philippians 4:4–9, we are exhorted, by the apostle Paul to “think on good things.”  The Spirit of God indwells us to guide and direct us into all truth, and if we ask, we are  pgiven the gift of discernment, or the ability to ascertain the motive behind thoughts or actions.  So the Spirit of God is our IT-man!

Holy Spirit LIVING

by  Doug Cooper

GOD PROVIDES for His Children.  He only asks our obedience (and PARTNERSHIP) in returning this Earth to the Blessed place that it was created to be; you get to become a part of the answer to that portion of the Lord’s Prayer that reads, “Thy Kingdom come, thy Will be done, on Earth, as it is in Heaven.”

Listening to and then Following the Holy Spirit’s Guidance leads to a SUPERnatural, adventure-filled life.  Sometimes, we get to ACTUALLY SEE WHY He moved us to do or say something.  More often, though, we can only TRUST that we are part of a Grand Plan (which we are not ready to see).

MY LIFE is the “end of the story” for many millions, billions . . . of those simple acts of OBEDIENCE (yours is, TOO!).  You see, we are ALL a part of this HUMAN SOUP!  Wonderfully Different, but uniquely the same!  As waves move through people, we cannot help but be affected.

We must keep our eyes focused on those “glimpses of the invisible,” which underlie ALL the things which we DO and SAY.  We can’t be distracted by what the WORLD tells us is REAL, but “pull back the curtain” and capture what’s REALLY HAPPENING.

The FIRST RULE of Holy Spirit living is not “being AFRAID.”  Jesus is there to pull us back; He asks US only to trust that He is “strong enough” to pull us back into the boat.”

Journal Entry - January 7, 2001

Hebrews 6:15 “And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.”

Oh dear God, please help us to endure this trial patiently. What does it matter if we have difficult trials and our lives do not run smoothly as we wish they would? My life is not my own. I have turned it what He  will,  to  accomplish  His purposes and bring glory to His name. He is worthy of all glory and honor and praise. Let Him have His way without questioning and without resistance.

    Prayer Requests

For Steve Sauder

Dear Ones,

We’ve had Steven on the full dose of seizure medication now for a few days, and I think it is starting to help somewhat.  It seems to be affecting him neurologically. However, it is making his body jerk at night, sometimes hard all night, so we’d appreciate prayer for that.  He also seems to be getting weaker.  Again, thank you so very much for all your prayers.  God bless you!

I hadn’t noticed before that Ephesians 4:27 says, “Leave no foothold for the devil.”    Our son John (now in Africa) used to love to go rock climbing and mountain climbing.  It was great when he could find natural “footholds” in the rock to help boost himself up to the next height.  Ephesians 4:26 says unresolved anger becomes the same kind of “foothold” for Satan—boosting him up into further nasty work in our lives.

This makes me really think about what other kinds of footholds I might be leaving for Satan and his gang of “no-gooders”—an impatient word, lifting my eyebrows in an exasperated expression, breaking the law “just a little bit” by going a few miles over the speed limit, stretching the truth slightly, listening to a little gossip, and on and on . . . .

Have a great day in Jesus, leaving no “footholds” behind you!

For Marty

“Everything is possible
 for him who Believes.”
 Mark 9:23

Give high Praise to the Lord!

Prayers may have been answered here. Today, Monday, April 19, Marty is at the hospital, Tuesday or Wednesday he will have the oral surgery. Wha-whoooo, Marty is going to get the royal treatment.

Marty will get OUT teeth that have been hurting him and that have decayed over the past couple of years from the medications and lack of getting his teeth brushed the correct way.  Marty will get a new PEG (feeding) tube, and he will get his full checkup.  Maybe now Marty can focus on being able to speak a little more instead of being in pain.  It will be a lot of relieved stress.

I know, I know . . . I keep asking for prayers, and yet again, here I am asking for prayers again. Why?? Against the dreaded “Dry Socket” and that all goes well for him.  Please say some prayers that Marty will heal quickly and that he will not endure any dry socket from any of the teeth removed.

Lots of “Thanks” goes to the people who have been in touch with me concerning Marty and this oral surgery. A very big THANK YOU to the oral surgeon, Dr. John Ciabattoni!!! And thanks to the physicians who finally have co-operated.

Most of all, thanks goes to the Heavenly Father for all that HE has done.

As far as Physical Therapy is concerned, that one doctor fell off the planet. I have left a couple messages. I did not get a good response. I am placing the ad again for a PT. I had people call and ask if we need a housekeeper or shopper or aid, but no one answers the specific ad for a physical therapist.

Please pray for Marty in this situation. I am tired of some people saying that he will never . . . .   I just want someone positive to answer.

Marty’s Aunt Cookie, his main caregiver, is about to be treated with radiation for cancer. Please lift Aunt Cookie up in prayer, and ask Him to remove all hindrances from her body.  I know that she is scared.

Thank you!

A cheerful look brings joy to the heart and good news gives health to the bones. -  Proverbs 15:3

Full Flower Moon shines bright in the month of May. In most areas, flowers are abundant everywhere during this time.

Thinking about the rain, I am reminded of the gifts of God’s grace and mercy dropping down upon me. Sometimes they come pouring down but mostly God’s blessings are like a gentle rain falling quietly and gently and I am barely aware of them. - dm

“Every good and perfect gift is from above.” (Jas 1:17)

While outside cleaning up fallen limbs and twigs in the woods recently I witnessed a very great gift. That of the two eagles which nest nearby and fly over every day. The sun was shining with a brisk wind blowing from the south. I spotted the birds high over the house heading to their favorite open sky out by the garden.  I later observed them soaring overhead and this time I let them lead me as I watched them glide along the wind currents among a sapphire blue sky with large white puffy clouds. I was surprised to see 3 eagles instead of the usual 2. Could this be another eagle vying for the attention of the female? The two largest birds performed a dance while the somewhat smaller bird stayed a short distance apart from them. I sat down on a bench to see what was going to happen. The two larger birds glided directly over my head and fairly low. What a beautiful sight – their white heads glowing. I think they were trying to tell me something. Then, all of a sudden, they stepped aside to allow the smaller bird to take their place while it then performed for me. None of the three appeared to be in a hurry to leave me sitting there and I finally told the single bird it was ok to leave and go with them to wherever they were going. Gathering themselves together they left me and headed back toward the west. I sat quietly for some time, feeling myself rising up as on the wings of eagles,  thanking God for such a beautiful display of his majesty and being reminded of Isaiah 40 :31:  Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. - dm

Fanny Crosby was probably the most prolific hymnist in history. Though blinded by an incompetent doctor at six weeks of age, she wrote over 8,000 hymns. About her blindness, she said:

It seemed intended by the blessed providence of God that I should be blind all my life, and I thank him for the dispensation. If perfect earthly sight were offered me tomorrow I would not accept it. I might not have sung hymns to the praise of God if I had been distracted by the beautiful and interesting things about me.
